Greater Austin Book Festival (GAB FEST)

I had a fantastic time at GAB Fest. This was my first time trying a festival and I loved it. Everyone was so kind and supportive. The librarians in particular was so kind and worked extremely hard the whole weekend to create an unbelievable experience of authors and visitors. I found the whole experience really energizing and affirming. I'm excited to get back to work on Timp and the Blueberry Vikings Book 3.

Two stories stand out:

A guy about my age came up, asked what the book was about. I gave the synopsis and he said "OK, I'm getting it." His wife of girlfriend said, "You don't have any kids." And he replied "I'm getting it for me!" - Hats off to you, sir. This series is not just for the young, but for the young at heart.

Another story fro the day, a boy came up to me, looked at me and the table with wide eyes, and left. A short time later, he came back holding his dad's finger. "I guess he wants to buy your book," the boy's dad said. "What's it about?" I told them how Timp is a boy with hair just like the boy and how he came to meet the tiny Bluberry Vikings when he ate one of their houses. And how they then took up residence in his hair and ears until he could find them new homes. They got the book and left. A short time later, the boy comes back, this time with his mom. "He wants to get his picture with you," she said. And he did. Such an awesome kid. I hope he loves the book and has many wonderful adventures.

Best experience I've had in a long time, GAB Fest. I hope I get in again next year.
